Turn curiosity into an everyday leadership habit.

Curious by nature. Practical by design.

The Curious Leader Cards are a practical set of prompts that help leaders ask better questions, have more useful conversations, and build the kind of culture that can learn, adapt and work well in a changing world.

Most leaders like the idea of curiosity, but it often stays as a nice idea. These cards help turn it into something people actually do. They give leaders simple prompts they can use in real moments, not just in training rooms.

THE CURIOUS LEADERSHIP SYSTEM

It all starts with a framework

The Curious Leader cards are anchored in the Curious Leadership System.

The framework explores 3 dimension:

SELF
Prompts to audit your own impact, recognise your biases, and shift your mindset from 'expert' to 'curious'. It starts with how you show up.

OTHERS
The skillset for better connection and team trust. Questions that help leaders to move teams to high-performance without the corporate fluff.

SYSTEM
Look at the world around us. Strategic prompts to interrogate the systems and symbols that either help or hinder behaviour change.

It works across 3 layers: Mindset, Skillset, Habitat

The Curious Leadership System helps us to focus on specific dimensions and layers - one small step at a time.
Curiosity starts with us - we need to be curious about ourselves before we can be truly curious about others and the world around us.

Each card can be traced back to the matrix and helps explore and better understand this specific category.

The Business Case for Curiosity

CURIOSITY IS GOOD BUSINESS

The evidence is unambiguous: curiosity in leaders is not a personality perk - it's a strategic performance driver.

Here some research ●

Increased innovation and creativity

PwC research cited in Forbes found organisations fostering a culture of curiosity are 30% more innovative and achieve 20% higher employee engagement.

Rapid change
and AI

The World Economic Forum's latest report highlights curiosity as the paramount human asset in a world of AI.

Organisations that don't cultivate curiosity at the leadership level risk becoming what the SAS report calls "dinosaur companies" — restricting their own potential for growth, innovation, and survival.

Better decisions, fewer errors

A Harvard Business School study found that curious employees and leaders make fewer decision-making errors, because curiosity reduces confirmation bias (the tendency to seek only information that supports existing beliefs).

Psychological safety and employee voice

Leader curiosity is one of the most direct levers for psychological safety. A 2022 study (Thompson & Klotz) found that employees feel more psychologically safe when their leader displays curiosity, which in turn leads to employees speaking up more — a behaviour that is critical for avoiding costly errors and driving improvement.

80 ways to ask bolder questions and practise curiosity.

Each card guides you through a process with a leading question, an action, an example and the why - the impact this action or reflection has.

The question

An action & example

Your impact

Each card starts with a question - a prompt that will make you think and challenge your current view, behaviour or reaction in the workplace.

The question relates to an action for you to take over a period of time (e.g. for a week), this could be a reflection, observation or practising a skill.

An example will show how this action could look in practice.

This describes the "Why" of the specific card - what potential impact has this action on your self-awareness, your leadership, your team, the culture or the organisation?

ONE SIZE RARELY FITS ALL

Six ways to use the cards... or more?

We thought of a few examples of how to bring the cards to life.
Don't limit yourself, use your imagination - you might have other ideas or great ways to incorporate the cards in your current programs, learning or rituals.

Need support?
If you need help to launch and embed the cards into your organisations - let us know.
We can work with your teams - set things up, train them up and then pass it on. If you don't have enough capacity, we can step in.

Learn as a team.

  • Pick the same card as a team, work through the action on your card till your next team meeting. Then share your observations, a-ha moments and learning as a team. Pick your next card and hold each other accountable. Incorporate some learning into your ways of working

  • Each team member picks a different card (same category) and brings back their learning, the impact it had and what support they need from their peers. You might take some rituals or new habits into your team charter. Social learning at its finest.
